For every mission that NASA undertakes, the astronauts create a mission patch to wear. Every time that one of the shuttles goes up, a new patch is drawn by the people on that flight, to signify their mission.
These patches are used to identify the missions, for press releases, for commemorative work and for the astronauts and the flight teams themselves to keep.
In this regular section, we show some of the best mission patches that NASA has produced and showcase the best that pupils produce.
- If you are a teacher, why not get your pupils to create their own mission patch designs and send them in to us, either as individuals or groups?
- If you are a pupil, but at home, why not make a mission patch and send it in?
The best patches will be displayed on the site and sent on to NASA!
