Q: What is the Library?
A: The ISSET site contains several thousand documents for kids 11-16+ involving science and space topics that are required by the National Curriculum. The Library is the collection of these documents. The menu on the left side of the screen gives access to the different sections of the Library.Q: What is the Image Library?
A: In creating the Library of documents, ISSET developed a wide range of pictures and photographs on different topics. The Image Library is a structured way to find those images quickly, for use in projects, classes or just for browsing.Q: What are the Special Projects?
A: When preparing material for the ISSET web site, the team finds that they sometimes have a great deal of information on certain topics that might be useful to pupils, so they are collected and also presented as a project. This will also include active projects, which ISSET runs in co-operation with schools, collecting data and allowing schools to work together.Q: I can't see the Library access menu that is supposed to be on the left of the site. Why?
A: The Library menu uses Java to run. This is what allows it to be interactive, but means that you will need at least version 3 of Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer, preferably versions 4 and 5. The Mozilla browser uses a Java plug-in, and will offer to download it for you, if you haven't got it. The Opera browser is in the process of adding Java at this moment, so newer versions may be able to use the menu. The menu should work on WebTV systems.Q: Why did you choose Java for the menu, if some older browsers can't use it?
A: Less than 5% of web browsers will not run the menu and the only other way of accessing the Library sections would be to use a directory system, which would be slower to download and use, and would be harder to navigate. In addition, the site will soon include movies, Flash animations, VRML and a number of technologies that newer browsers support. In order to support older browsers, we would have to sacrifice some of the most interesting new parts of the site and its design, so the team chose to support only newer browsers.Q: Who can I contact with questions and comments?
A: Check the bottom of the relevent pages to see if a contact e-mail address has been added there. If it has not, then e-mail isset@globalnet.co.ukPages:
