In years to come,
newer technology will allow space travel to become more
common. Human beings will someday find themselves
planning family trips to places beyond the Earth's
atmosphere to destinations such as other planets and
maybe, in the distant future, to other solar systems or
even other galaxies. Although, before we take these
drastic measures, we must begin our endeavor with a much
easier and more realistic target, the moon.
The spacecraft
used to transport tourists to the moon will have the
conveniences of a present-day jumbo jet. Once arrived,
the travelers will exit the spacecraft through a
pressurized tunnel, similar to the manor in which
present-day airplanes are entered and exited. They will
then go through baggage claim and be directed to the
hotel. The tourists will stay in the luxurious
"Lunar Hotel 6". They will be given the option
to rent space suits and rovers to explore and experience
the lunar terrain and behold the magnificence of outer
space firsthand. The guests will also have the
opportunity well as a museum where the more constrained
visitors can educate themselves of interesting lunar
facts.
The lunar resort
will be comprised of a landing strip, an arrival and
baggage claim area, a five-star hotel, a building
dedicated to space suit and rover rental, a museum, and
another building behind the hotel where the employees
reside. All of which will be connected with steel
reinforced plastic tunnels to allow the non-daring
visitors a chance to see the beautiful depths of the
lunar sky without having to leave the safety of the
hotel. The resort will be designed for maximum safety
from radiation to protect the health of all visitors and
employees. The walls of all buildings will be insulated
to shield the harmful radiation from the sun.
The tunnel walls
will be lined with water for protection in order to
maintain the transparency. The baggage claim will be
operated like an airport baggage claim, after all; it
will be nothing more than an airport on the moon.
"The Lunar Hotel 6" will be exactly how it
sounds and nothing more, a hotel on the moon. The hotel
will house a food court where tourists will eat, a pool
where the tourists can experience swimming in reduced
gravity, and a gym where the tourists will have the
option to exercise. Taking advantage of the gym
will be strongly recommended, but not mandatory.
Space suits and
rovers will be available as well as a museum to provide
hotel guests with fun and educational leisure
activities. The guests who choose to do so will be sized
for space suits and will be allowed to rent rovers to
explore the lunar surface, although; a trained astronaut
will accompany every outing to ensure safety in case of
an emergency. The museum will have an education side for
the interested and a fun side, such as a scale to weigh
yourself, for the young at heart.
The "Lunar
Hotel 6" will be a utopia for those who at some
point dreamt of being an astronaut or going into space.
Children will have a blast lifting objects approximately
six times what they could on Earth and jumping as though
they were on a trampoline. Reaching out beyond the
confines of the Earth and making space travel as
ordinary, safe, and efficient as traveling by airplane
is today. Also, if there are individuals who will pay
$20 million for a brief stay on the ISS, imagine how
much money the "Lunar Hotel 6" could make for
NASA and naturally, the designer.
