Final Project

For my final project I am proposing that the society on Mars be Anarchical in nature. Governments are evil in nature; they cause war, poverty, oppression, destruction, and they hold the evolution of the individual back. The people that will be going to Mars will have to be self-sufficient to survive, and thus they will be self-sufficient to live without a government. People are pacifist by nature; governments are what make people readily accept war to end a conflict. To put it bluntly, the governments of the world are the plagues of man that man has created. At one time governments seemed needed but we have outgrown the need for governments. Now is the time to remove our constraints, and to leave the confines of the monstrosity that we have created.

If you examine our society, you will see that the majority is not motivated by creativity. Instead, the majority is motivated by fear and resentment. They fear the world and all its dangers. They resent those who can arise above the average and create. Thus they institute government, in their name, to protect them from each other and to impose upon the creative and productive mechanisms that prevent this smaller class from fulfilling the realization of their abilities. If man is to advance himself beyond the fear of his own kind, and we are serious about reaching out into the universe, we must put childish things (such as governments) behind us.

Law, as we know it, is largely created in reaction to irresponsibility. The masses do not wish to be responsible for their choices, and thus call for laws to protect them. This has the effect of oppressing those who are responsible. For example, an intelligent individual could educate him or herself about pharmacology and make intelligent choices about the consumption of medicines. Yet, because the average person is either incapable of educating him or her self, or simply to lazy to do so, the average person calls upon the government to pass laws to prevent him or her self from making these decisions. The same can be said of wiring one's home, doing one's own plumbing, and so on. I believe that the individuals traveling in space are sufficiently competent to take responsibility for their selves. While it is true that this may not be in the best interest of any given person of lesser ability, it does recognize the role that evolution has taken in the formation of our species. Evolution, in order to function to the benefit of the species, requires that individual decisions play a role in the formation of the species. To the degree that government prevents this mechanism from working, evolution is hampered. To be traveling around in space using governments as our crutch would be like a bird trying to fly with a broken wing; its not going to get very far from home.

Now I realize that this idea seems like it would not be functional because it seems that everything would be in total chaos, but a society can deal with this. When it is realized that society is not an actual thing but only a virtual concept, and that individuals are the basis of society, the people will truly flourish and have true balance with each other. If the people only use the concept of a society to make a basis for the trading, (I.E. things, ideas, etcetera) and for the collaboration of people for a cause, (I.E. for the building of structures, the exploration of an area, the analyzing of data, etcetera) then the people are truly living free without being disorganized. Using society as a tool, rather than letting it be a chaotic mess that would need a government, we could set standards for: trading, communication, organizational methods, and many other things.

Everyone will need food, water, oxygen, shelter, recycling technologies, education, and many other things to survive. Seeing as there are other things in which one wants, but does not necessarily need to survive, there could be a credit system based on work implemented. The credit system can use an equation to determine how much credit one receives for their work accomplished. For example: the danger of the work being done, added to, the knowledge needed to do the work properly, multiplied by, how much the job is demanded to be done. These ideas in the equation are assigned numbers determining their value. The issuing of the credits is done by who is in need of the service. The system works like a basic capitalist economy.

In conclusion, all of these ideas may require more thought from the human mind just as the advancement of the human mind has allowed its race to travel beyond the physical, but not mental, limitations of the human body.  In the possibly not too distant future the human race must use the same intelligence and rationality to govern themselves as they have used to reach past the earth, their home, and into the more complicated beyond.
