  • All general TAS correspondence will be by e-mail. Your new hotmail account will be the only address that we will use. You will be assigned your week(s) and team(s) by April 30, 2001.
  • Please review the material in the Program Information section to familiarize yourself with TAS. You will receive one packet in the regular mail that will have a medical and release form which you will need to return at least two weeks before you arrive for the summer workshop.
  • The on-line Travel Form will enable you to apply for mileage reimbursement or have an airplane reservation made for you. If you live more than 50 miles from Houston you are eligible for mileage reimbursement if you drive not to exceed the cost of a plane ticket. If you choose to fly you will be booked electronically on a flight leaving from the airport you specify. The form must be completed by April 16, 2001 or you will not receive travel assistance.
  • Please review the on-line activities during the year so you will be fully prepared for the summer program. You will be helping the mentors to facilitate the on-site team research projects based on the on-line activities. The activities focus on engineering, science and math and require students to use a variety of technology tools and software.
  • Please review the final projects submitted and posted by students on your team. You will be notified of what team you will be assigned to and who your mentor and co-op will be by April 30, 2001 .
  • Open chat sessions with NASA mentors and Texas Aerospace scholars will take place the week of March 19, 2001 . You will be assigned a chat room to facilitate with a NASA mentor and co-op. the topic will be the Moon and Mars TAS activities and activities. Please review these assignments before the chat session.
  • Please review the mentor biographies for mentors participating in your week. You will get acquainted with your student team, mentor, and co-op via e-mail and interactive chat sessions before the internship begins. You may also review the co-op biographies on-line.
  • You will be responsible for helping to enforce student rules and dress code during their week at JSC. You will chaperone the students at all times and will be housed with the scholars (in single rooms) during your week-long visit.
  • You will also assist in an evaluating team member performance and the internship program as a whole.
  • The team chat will occur 2 weeks before you arrive. The chat will focus on your team project theme. Teams will introduce themselves, learn about their mentor, discuss their final projects (which are based on their team topic) and begin planning their mission.
