ISSET wins Sir Arthur Clarke Award

The International Space School Educational Trust (ISSET) is very proud to receive the Sir Arthur Clarke 2007 award for Achievement in Space Education. The award was received on behalf of ISSET by Chris Barber, its Director at the 'Space Really Matters' conference in on April the 14th 2007.

Nominations for the awards are provided by members of the public, and voted for by representatives of the space industry, research institutions, universities and space-focused organisations.

Chris Barber, Director of ISSET, said: 'It is tremendous that ISSET's work has been recognised through gaining such a prestigious award especially as we were nominated by such a distinguished panel.  Arthur C. Clarke has been a great visionary who we are proud to be linked with in our efforts to engage our young people in having visions of personal achievement and fulfillment for themselves.'

The British Rocketry Oral History Project (BROHP)is an important endeavour in UK space exploration, recording the valuable history of rocketry, but also developing programmes and conferences to enable current and future discussion and exploration of space.

Each year, BROHP supports the Sir Arthur Clarke awards, which are the space exploration equivalent of the Oscars. They provide recognition and tribute to the people who have worked hard and contributed to the advancement of space exploration in the UK.
