An absolutely amazingly inspirational day, more than I could have hoped for. As teachers we usually expect to come away from a day's course with a few good ideas but nothing can match what you achieved today.
Brilliant material, excellently presented
A fabulous day with lots of great ideas that makes science and learning fun
Learn how to run a Space Camp at your School
ISSET (International Space School Educational Trust) will show you how to run a Space Camp and provide you with resources for hours of motivational activities and learning to use with your own class or out of hours of clubs.
The Space Camp programme has been successful in schools and LEA's throughout England and Wales since 2001. Space Camp has received fantastic feedback from both teachers and students over the last ten years.
The relaunched training programme has been improved and streamlined to fit all of the hours of the activities into one enjoyable, informative and very practical day.
Using Space as a theme is a great way to interest students in learning, particularly in science and technology. Space is a great context to inculcate in our students the NASA "you can do it spirit".
Each Space Camp provides the equivalent of five days of stimulating, hands-on, multi-media based student activities that utilises the human space programme and state of the art aspects of cognitive acceleration and active learning.
Space Camp is based around five themes:
- Planning a mission
- Understanding the solar system
- Rocketry and propulsion
- Living in space
- Landing and living on other planets
Space Camps can be run in after school or lunchtime clubs, on weekends or during the school holidays . The activities and techniques can also be used in the classroom to provide inspiring and effective teaching and learning.
About the programme
The Space Camp course provides a DVD of brilliant resources to run a five day programme at your school. Simply attend the training and you are ready to go.
In addition, teachers will be able to use in the classroom many of the Space Camp activities to provide effective and motivating lessons that really engage the students.
The Space Camp course is provided by staff who have undertaken extensive education programmes at NASA's Kennedy Space Centre. Space Camp programmes incorporate the best aspects of Kennedy Space Centre's educational programmes and has been developed in consultation with teacher working groups.
